So here I was looking for something to write about since I haven't written in awhile and into my email comes inspiration: my weekly issue of SearchEngineWatch.com news.
The thing that caught my eye was the reference to a new job title, VP of Search. It was enough to make me read what I would normally scan. Apparently several companies including the New York Times and CitiCards have created a new position within the company to capitalize on the marketing opportunities now widely recognized as part of doing business on the web.
Chalk one up for the IT department and internal geek squads who constantly had their heads in the computer trying to make the management happy by maintaining websites. Looks like the job of search marketing has finally been formally recognized as something more than a passing hobby.
